1. Use the Mechanical Lock
Car owners have often either locked themselves inside while attempting to figure out a way around the alarm system or unintentionally activated the alarm. The easiest way to ensure your car alarm does not go off is by using the mechanical lock button.
We are so used to using the fob key that we forget about the physical lock-unlock button inside. This lock is handy when you want to keep your car safe without waking the entire neighborhood. Using the lock button on the drivers’ side will lock the car without setting off the alarm.
However, make sure the fob has enough charge to operate.
2. Disable the Car Alarm
Disabling the car alarm is a great way to ensure you are not inviting people’s wrath around you. There are multiple ways to do this, including removing the alarm’s fuse or disconnecting the battery.
Let’s look at these ways in greater detail.
With the Fob Key
Check the batteries on your fob key. There are instances where the alarm refuses to turn off despite using the fob because the batteries are dead. If everything is fine, then press the lock and unlock button on your fob simultaneously. That should do it.
With Only the Key
You can also stop the alarm by using only your key to unlock the car manually. If you have installed your alarm separately, then this might not always do the trick.

- Locate the alarm fuse. You will find the alarm fuse in the fuse box of your car. Use the manual if you are unsure.

- Remove the alarm fuse with a pair of tweezers. If you don’t know which one is the correct fuse, keep removing all the fuses one by one until the correct one stops the alarm.
Disconnect the Battery
The last method of disabling the car alarm is by disconnecting the battery. You should only do this if all the other methods have failed. Wear rubber gloves before touching any part of the car’s engine.
Locate the battery under the hood of your vehicle. It is usually apparent, but some cars keep their batteries in the trunk. Refer to your car’s manual if you can’t find it. Remove the black wire connected to the (-) symbol on the battery. It will immediately cut off power to your car, including your alarm.
Re-connect the wire.
If you have installed the alarm system later or used a separate alarm system in your car, it might be powered by a dedicated battery. You need to locate that and disconnect it.
